DIY Vegan Apple Crumble

Apple crumble, with its scent of warm stewed apples and a crumbly crust topping is a simple mix and bake dessert you can attempt at home with kids.

Organic Dazzle apples from New Zealand are crunchy, sweet and juicy. For a fuller flavour profile, we add in raisins, cranberries, almonds, pumpkin seeds and lemon peel but really, mix in different nuts or fruits you like. 

The crumbly crust is made with flour, oat, sugar, salt and coconut oil. A golden yellow colour with a nice coconut aroma welcomes you after the  baking is done.

  • 50g Cake flour
  • 20g Simply Natural Organic Rolled Oat (AUS)
  • 15g Simply Natural Organic Corn Starch
  • 20g Simply Natural Organic Wheat Sweetener
  • 20g Simply Natural Coconut Oil
  • 2g Simply Natural Himalayan Salt


  • 2 medium Simply Natural Organic Dazzle Apples
  • 20g Simply Natural Premium Raw Almonds
  • 10g Simply Natural Organic Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 10g Simply Natural Organic Jumbo Seedless Green Raisins
  • 10g Simply Natural Whole Dried Cranberries
  • 10g Simply Natural Organic Candied Lemon Peel
  • 20g Simply Natural Organic Pumpkin Seeds


  • 1 tbsp Simply Natural Organic Dessicated Coconut
  1. Mix all the crumble ingredients in a bowl, knead into a ball
  2. Cover with cling wrap, keep in the fridge for 30 mins
  3. Wash and cut the apple into cubes, chop almonds
  4. Add all the filling ingredients into another bowl, mix well
  5. Put the apple filling into a ceramic or glass baking tray until 70-80% full
  6. Retrieve the crumble from the fridge, use hands or blender to break the dough into sandy like pieces 
  7. Add the crumble on top of the apple filling
  8. Bake at 170℃ for 60 mins
  9. Apply with the desiccated coconut before serving
